IS IT ALIVE?
THIS PAGE WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIVING AND NON-LIVING THINGS! YOU CAN WATCH SOME FUN VIDEOS, PLAY A GAME, AND THEN CREATE YOUR OWN DIGITAL STORYBOARD TO HELP OTHER STUDENTS LEARN!
1. First, watch this video. Which one is alive - Cookie Monster or the rock?
2. Now watch this video. What does Kermit say about things that are alive?
5. Ask a grownup to help you print out this graphic organizer. Work with your partner to brainstorm five things that are alive and five things that are not alive in our school. Draw pictures of your ideas. When you are finished, have a grown-up check your drawings.
6. Work with your partner to draw each object from your graphic organizer on an index card. Label each card. Look at the slideshow to see how to label your cards. Ask a grownup to check your labels.
8. Ask a grownup to help your group upload the pictures to the computer. Your pictures should be put in a folder labeled with your names.
A grownup will help you add your pictures to iMovie in the same order as your index card pictures and use the "Titles" tab to add the same label to each picture as you wrote on your index cards. When your pictures are in order, you can pick a song to add to your movie from the "Songs" file on the computer.
Check out this example of a finished movie!
